A DA-sponsored motion, introduced in council by René Steyn, was passed on 18 February, along with a resolution ensuring that supply chain management supports the Department of Infrastructure in addressing these challenges effectively.

For years, the opposition has exposed the municipality’s failure to repair water leaks, resulting in the daily loss of thousands of litres of water and worsening an already struggling supply system. This negligence has led to deteriorating road conditions, increased safety hazards, and continued hardships for residents.

Thanks to the DA’s relentless efforts, the council is now forced to act.

“This successful motion ensures that the ANC-led administration can no longer ignore its duties or delay urgent action,” says Steyn.

“We will closely monitor the implementation of these measures. The people of Matjhabeng deserve efficient, reliable service delivery, and the DA will not stop fighting until that is achieved.”
