Local singers scoop international prizes

The duet Ty-Rina consisting of Tyrell Bazley and Arina Bosch achieved an overall second place in the vocals group category at the Stars of the Universe International Performing Arts Competition, which was held virtually.

The duet Ty-Rina consisting of Tyrell Bazley and Arina Bosch achieved an overall second place in the vocals group category at the Stars of the Universe International Performing Arts Competition, which was held virtually.

Both Tyrell and Arina won gold for all of their items, receiving a platinum award for making the Overall Top second position.

Individually Tyrell received an additional platinum award for making the overall third position in the vocals category.

Another Welkom girl who took top honours at this competition is Megan Gloy, a Gr. 12 learner at Welkom-Gimnasium. Megan scooped five gold medals, in the categories: backtrack vocal open, backtrack vocal broadway, backtrack vocal gospel, backtrack vocal country and backtrack vocal pop.

The three vocalists represented South Africa during this prestigious competition, and competed against countries like: America, Portugal, Ireland, Romania, Malta, Uzbekistan, Germany, Belarus, Poland, Moldova, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Russia, Greece, Macedonia, Kuwait, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Namibia, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Serbia.

The judging panel consisted of professionals from Poland, Serbia, Russia, America and South Africa.
