Due to the current Matjhabeng municipal strike action, especially around the municipal building, the Welkom Publicity Association (WPA) has no choice but to move the flea market venue.
The February flea market will now take place on the sports grounds of the Welkom Technical High School (THS), a favourite second-choice venue for the beloved market.
Dulcie Harris, spokesperson for the WPA, says the market is popular and often referred to as the people’s market.
“Another favourite reference is to the friendly exhibitors and good shopping experience it provides. Well, these are the things the WPA strives to achieve.
“We are a professional team of volunteers, working hard at pleasing our community,” says Harris.
This is the Valentine’s Market, and besides the usual stalls like clothes, jewelry, home-made delights, leather, wood and steel crafts, household cleaning materials, and much more, there will be additional entertainment activities like paint ball and archery for the adventurous types, and fun rides and jumping castles for children.
The surprise element for this month’s market is the launch of a brand new boot sale component.
“Come enjoy a morning out in the fresh air with your family and friends,” Harris invites.
