As a contractor who has been done in by the system, I am very concerned that local contractors have not been considered in recent tenders.
We demand that the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) look into contracts in the Free State. The recent contracts concerning asbestos and sewage were never advertised.
Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa said outside contractors may only be appointed to a contract in a province or area if no local contractors were available.
I am a local, born and bred. I have built and completed multi-million RDP housing projects, perfectly constructed and with no complaints.
Myself and many other local contractors are being overlooked and not given an opportunity.
We demand that a commission of enquiry be established to investigate why a contractor from Limpopo has been employed to do the Free State contract.
