An outdoor pageant, Miss Bronville United FC 2022, was recently held at the Bronville Stadium and it made local historylocally by being the first ever pageant in the Welkom area to be held in a stadium.
On Saturday (13/08) the Bronville stadium became a hive of activity as spectators gathered to take part in the event. This pageant forms part of the Bronville Sports and Arts Festival which also consists of a soccer- tournament,netball- tournament, and rugby tournament.
The winner, Masego Diseko, is a third year BCom Accounting student at the University of Free State Bloemfontein Campus. The first princess, Alipo Mojaki from Virginia, matriculated from Unitas Secondary School in Welkom and graduated at Boston City College, with qualifications in travel and tourism. Mojaki has also obtained a cabin crew licence at the EPT Aviation Institute in Johannesburg. The second princess is Moliehi Sehloho from Riebeeckstad . She iscurrently a matriculantearner at the Welkom High School.
The Bronville Sports and Arts Festival 2022 was a success and the Bronville stadium was filled to over 60% of its capacity. This festival will now be an annual event and its aim is to develop local talent and create a life changing opportunity to youngsters through sports and arts. The festival also endeavours to raise awareness of teenage pregnancy and drug abuse to the youngsters.
The Bronville Sports and Arts Festival is co-owned by well-known entertainment personality, DJ Taaibos and well-known soccer star, Anver “Gube” Esterhuizen.
Both DJ Taaibos and Anver Esterhuizen are from Vergenoeg,a suburb in Bronville.
