The Regional Court in Theunissen has sentenced Nkareng David Sehloho (29) and Ofentse Johannes Sekgapane (26) to life imprisonment for the murder of Pule Edwin Ramakau (34).
The sentencing took place on 6 June.
According to police reports, the two accused were drinking together with the deceased on Friday, 5 June 2020. Ramakau was attacked, assaulted and stabbed with knives. The victim was taken to the Katleho hospital and was transferred to Pelonomi hospital in Bloemfontein for medical treatment where he died two days later.
The elder brother of the deceased, Reuben Mosholi reported the incident and a case of murder was opened and assigned to Sgt Thabiso Molelengoane of Theunissen police.
The investigator managed to oppose bail and the duo appeared in court while in custody. They were found guilty by the Regional Court and were each sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.
The Acting Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Brig. Mzondi Mojafi applauded the investigator Sgt Molelengoane for ensuring that the accused were arrested and displayed his dedication by conducting a thorough investigation which led to this heavy sentences.
