Two suspects have been arrested for possession of drugs with a street value of R20 000.
The men, aged 30 and 36 years, were arrested on Friday 12 December during a roadblock in Maokeng.
The arrest happened at about 08:00 when members of the SAPS, in partnership with the
traffic department, Community Policing Forum (CPF), and the youth desk, conducted a roadblock at Marabastad section, Maokeng.
While searching a taxi, the members noticed a man acting suspiciously. They found a hidden black plastic bag containing drugs suspected to be Mandrax.
The man was then taken to his residence, where another male suspect was found.
A search of the premises uncovered 16 tablets of suspected drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Both men were arrested, and the suspected drugs with a street value of R20 000 and cash were confiscated.
The suspects appeared in the Kroonstad Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and being an illegal immigrant.
