The shocking discovery of a frozen newborn baby boy in a deep freezer in Kutloanong, Odendaalsrus, has revulsed the local community.
The owner of a house in this township alleges that he found a newborn baby inside the deep freezer of a shack inside his yard.
The police initiated a search and the mother, who was not at home at the time of the discovery, handed herself over to the Odendaalsrus police on 12 September. The discovery was made on 11 September.
The 27-year-old mother was arrested and has appeared in the Odendaalsrus Magistrates’ Court on a charge of concealment of birth.
The gruesome discovery was made after the Odendaalsrus police received a complaint. They found the baby inside a deep freezer wrapped in a tracksuit top. The body was placed in a plastic carry bag, and was already in a frozen state.
