No-one has yet been arrested in connection with the murder of well-known Welkom doctor, Simon Ngcobo (62), who was kidnapped at gunpoint from his home in Doorn.
Ngcobo and his family members were attacked and robbed at gunpoint on 17 October. He was then also kidnapped with his own vehicle, and later found shot execution style in Riebeeckstad on the same day.
A case of house robbery, kidnapping and murder was registered for further investigation. An extensive manhunt was launched, but to no avail.
The lead investigating officer is Det. Andrew Lechesa of the Welkom Serious and Violent Crimes unit.
“We are following every lead and leaving no stone unturned. The team is working around the clock to trace these murderers,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
