There is a story in the Bible in the book of Mark 5 of a man that was possessed by many evil spirits.
It says that at times they tried to bind him with chains, but he would break loose and no one could bind him anymore.
Therefore, he eventually ended up in the tombs and in the caves, naked and cutting himself with stones and crying out with torment.
The caves we find ourselves in and the chains we are bound with are not necessarily physical ones as in the case of this man, it can be spiritual or emotional chains and bars which we live behind.
Chains of depression, addiction, hopelessness, guilt, shame or prisons of unforgiveness. From the outside you may portray a picture of wholeness and that you have everything in place, but there is a constant feeling of bondage that overwhelms you.
This man in Mark 5, in his possessed state realized he needed to be set free from this bondage.
The world at that stage had written him off and his family had abandoned him, the only hope he had was Jesus.
It continues to read, that Jesus set him free and that he was clothed and in his right mind sitting at the feet of Jesus.
Jesus wants to do the same for you. You might feel like you are dwelling in the tombs of dead dreams and you are living in a cave of a tormented mind. As there was hope for this man whom the world had written off, there is hope for you. Run to Jesus, run to freedom.
He can heal, restore and save you.
If that is you today, pray this prayer, “Jesus, thank you for loving me and excepting me just as I am. Thank you for forgiving me and cleansing me from all sin. I believe you are the Christ. Thank you for delivering me from this bondage and for restoring my mind. I forgive everyone that sinned against me and hurt me. I accept your healing and forgiveness, Amen.” –
