Harmony Gold Mine has donated 833 pairs of school shoes, 833 solar backpacks and 833 sanitary products to students in the Lejweleputswa district.

“One of our key corporate social investment (CSI) strategic pillars is education. “Our presence today is informed by the interest in investing and touching people’s lives where the company operates,” said Steven Green, general manager of Target Mine, during a handover function that took place on Friday, 17 February.

The shoes, backpacks and sanitary product packs will be distributed to schools in the Matjhabeng and Masilonyana local municipal areas.

Through its partnership with the Department of Education (DoE), Harmony has reached out to more than 600 learners with the Maths and Science programme and more than 150 learners in Lejweleputswa who passed their matric and received laptops from the company.
