The Welkom Technical High School has achieved a matric pass rate of 90,2%.
This is an improvement of approximately 28% of last year’s performance and an even larger margin of the years before.
“This is the first time the school has attained an above 90% pass rate since the year 2016.,” says the new school principal, Raeez Rodgers.
This good result comes only six months after his appointment.
Rodgers said that his goal when applying to taking the lead of the Technical High School was to bring back the school from years of old and set them on a trajectory to attain new heights.
He has put plans in place and his teaching staff have been very supportive of these strategies.
The teaching staff have been investing a lot of time and effort into their learners to see them achieve a pass rate that can assist their future aspirations.
Rodgers insists that the secret is to believe in every teacher’s capability, and to believe in every learner’s ability so that they know that they all have the ability to succeed no matter what their circumstance and upbringing.
He says that the school, as a team, will work hard to push each learner to achieve their full potential.
This drastic improvement in results for 2022 serves as hope to inspire each learner to give their best, each teacher to give more and each supporter a reason to keep on supporting the learners of the Technical High School.
He would like to thank each teacher for all their hard work for each leader is only as good as the team he works with.
He would like to thank each Gr. 12 learner of 2022 by partaking in all the academic camps and every parent for supporting these camps.
He would also like to thank his wife, Azeezah Gani-Rodgers, for being his rock and support.
His vision for 2023 and years to come is to set the bar for Technical High School with the aid of the learners, the parents of each learner, the Technical High School staff and the community.
