Thabong police are looking for Thato Mogwera (30), also known as Punia, who can assist with the investigation of a stolen silver-grey Toyota Verso.

In September 2021 the owner of the Verso contacted Mogwera to recommend a mechanic to do repair work on his vehicle. A suitable mechanic was soon found.

The mechanic informed the Verso-owner that all his tools were at his workshop and they agreed to tow the vehicle to said workshop. The mechanic then phoned the Verso-owner the following day, informing him that he had repaired the vehicle and was owed R2 100.

The Verso-owner told the mechanic that he did not have money that time but would pay him at a later date.

In May 2022, when the Verso-owner went to pay the fee and collect his vehicle, he discovered that the mechanic had relocated to an unknown location. He tried to contact the mechanic but was unsuccessful.

He reported the incident to the police and a case of motor vehicle theft was registered.

The vehicle is a silver-grey Toyota Verso, registration number HBK 582 FS.

Anyone with information that will help the police find Mogwera, should contact Det. Sgt Seleke Khosana of the Vehicle Crime Investigation unit on 073-460-2760 or Crime Stop number 08600-10111.
