The Sandriver in Virginia after heavy rains. Almost 100 mm fell on 26 and 27 December. This photo was taken from the bridge between Harmony and the Virginia central business district on Tuesday, 28 December. Until recently, the fishing and camping structures were submerged.
On 27 December, in excess of 70 mm rain was experienced overnight in the region.This brought the December rainfall to an unprecedented 407 mm.The average December rainfall in Welkom is 167 mm.
