The headless corpse of a woman, also missing a right arm, was found next to her violated grave at the Phumlani Graveyard, Thabong.


The headless corpse of a woman, also missing a right arm, was found next to her violated grave at the Phumlani Graveyard, Thabong.

This ghoulish scene was discovered by a passerby who immediately reported it to the police in Thabong.

The grave and corpse were gruesomely violated on 22 August.

At the scene, the police found a bread knife and part of the casket that covered the head next to the grave. These items were confiscated for further investigation.

A case of violation of the grave has been registered for further investigation and the family was assisted to apply for the exhumation of the body.

The body was taken to the Welkom Forensic Pathology Services, where it was discovered that the head and the right arm of the deceased female were missing.

A charge of violation of a corpse was added.

“Residents of Thabong are requested to assist in tracing the perpetrators of this heinous crime, to face the might of the law.” says Capt Stephen Thakeng, media liaison for the police.
