Motorists are warned to be on high alert regarding a scam of placing poison-laced napkins on the car door latch for robbing and kidnapping.
The police in Lejweleputswa are warning residents of a scam where a napkin is placed on the door latch of cars. The napkin is laced with a poisonous substance that instantly makes the person in contact with it become numb and incoherent
It is purportedly being used as a new method to abduct or rape victims, and steal vehicles. If found on a vehicle, do not touch it.
Look for an object or stick to push it off from the door handle and use a tissue or wet wipe to clean it before opening the vehicle’s door. Ensure that the nearest local police station is notified.
