A Welkom man (42) was arrested in possession of possible gold-bearing material valued at R68 000.
On Thursday (05/01) police investigated information they had received.
“A joint operation was launched and a man was arrested and the gold-bearing material in his possession was seized,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
The joint Knock Out Team raided an identified house in question.
The man was arrested for acquisition, disposal and possession of unwrought precious metals.
