The question we face in life is not whether we will face storms, but when?
Every one of us is on a personal journey. A journey that requires us to navigate the seas of life.
We are all faced with an ocean of uncertainties so vast that we are numbed by the mere thought of facing it. Uncertainties of health, financial security or personal safety.
At first the comfort of a harbour seems attractive. It is a place of safety and comfort that eliminates the storms that beckon on the horizons. Yet a a ship was never made to remain docked – it was created to voyage and explore the open seas.
So were you, child of God, created to live life to the full and complete your voyage.
You are a vessel created to carry hope to desolate ports; a lifeboat meant to rescue the shipwrecked.
Although you are driven by the winds of life, you are guided by God. His Word is your map; his Spirit your compass.
The wicked are blown away by every stormy wind. But when a catastrophe comes, the lovers of God have a secure anchor(Proverbs 10:25).
God’s unfailing faithfulness is our anchor.
We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold (Hebrews 6:19).
I want to encourage you not to fear; not to remain docked in a place of uncertainty.
Set sail.
You are able to withstand more than you think, for the God in you is stronger than the crashing waves around you. ) Heinrich Lourens is zone pastor of the CRC Welkom.
