He is the athlete with the most voyages in the history of Two Oceans.

Louis Massyn completed his 45th consecutive Two Oceans ultramarathon on Sunday (17/04).

“It was a great day. I ran a good marathon and finished in 06:27,” he says.

“The support along the way was incredible.”

He has been described as a world-class athlete by his fellow runners and the event organisers.

Catherine Basson and Rialize Joubert of the Strand Athletics Club met Massyn on the road.

“We also had the privilege of running many kilometres with the legend himself,” Basson says.

“He is a gentleman and true sportsman. An ultramarathon is all about finding the level of intolerance you can tolerate and staying there. Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must – but giving up is never an option.”

Basson had the privilege of crossing the finishing line with Massyn.
