Girl’s body found

The body of Kelebohile Kototsa (12) was found in a decomposing state in the Vet River on Tuesday (22/03). The child drowned during a sangoma ritual performed in this river on 13 March. Four men were also swept away by the water and drowned while trying to save her.

The child drowned during a sangoma ritual which was being performed in the Vet River on 13 March.

Her mother, Khanyisile Skade, was holding her so as to perform rituals on her, when she was swept away.

Four male congregants tried to rescue her, but they too drowned.

All five bodies have now been retrieved.

The deceased are Kelebohile, Tefo Katotsa (39), Tshediso Manong (29), Tshepo Moleleki (34) and someone identified only as Shemanyane (37).
