Gangster sentenced to life

ONE of the IB7 (International Big 7) gang members was sentenced to life imprisonment following a murder of a 28-year-old Kutlwanong man in 2014.


Gangster sentenced to life, stabbed victim 43 times

On 8 June 2014 at 04:45 members of Odendaalsrus SAPS were called to a murder incident that occurred at the victim’s residential place in Block 6 Kutlwanong,  Odendaalsrus.  On their arrival they found a man lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds all over the body.  The Paramedics were alerted and the victim was declared dead on the scene.  The deceased, Matshidiso Moshoaesi, sustained 43 stab wounds.

Testimony was given in court that the victim and four of his friends were returning from a visit to the local tavern when they chased by a group of about 20 young men.  His friends managed to run away, but the gang chased him to his home where they brutally attacked him with knives and pangas. They then fled the scene.

One of the suspects, Rapuana Samuel Menyatso  (28), was arrested on 17 June 2014. He was found guilty of murder on 2 November at the Welkom Regional Court. Menyatso was sentenced to life imprisonment and unfit to possess a firearm.

The state prosecutor was Misheak Bantu and the magistrate was Colin Nekosie
