The residents of Virginia are geared to revive this beautiful town to its former glory when the Beesfees is presented this weekend.
This festival, which takes place on 27 and 28 October at the Voluit Primary School, is being presented for the second year, and is organised by the proud Virginians, Ons Vir Virginia.
“We are a small group of business owners, community leaders and parents with a dream to make Virginia a strong, safe and financially independent town again.
“The festival is a step in the right direction to realise this vision,” says Cindy Mac Nicol-Kapp.
“We are all young business people here in Virginia. We live here, and we work here. We want to repair the potholes, the sewer leaks and the decay. We want to plow money back into the town’s infrastructure and thereby improve the safety of the residents.”
There is a packed programme that includes performances by Piet Pompies, Ouderdoos, Jan Jan Jan, Zak Steyn, Karoo, Crazy Werrie and Eugene van Tonder.
Other entertainment such as a tug-of-war competition, Miss. and Mr. Beesfees competition, children’s entertainment and stalls can also be expected.
Tickets are available at the school and at Heritage on Park and cost R280 per person, and children younger than 12 enter for free.
“A ticket not only includes entry to the festival for the two days, but also a delicious pot roast dinner and a variety of entertainment for the whole family. Sports fans can look forward to a range of activities, including rugby and netball matches, as well as the special Renergen cycle race.”
The rugby world cup matches will be broadcast on big screens in the beer tent.
A unique service at the festival is the Beesfees Bus. For R30 return, festival goers can ride from Welkom to the festival in Virginia and back. The bus leaves Saturday at 14:00 from the Roverssportklub in Welkom, to Virginia.
“This way, festival-goers can eat, drink, watch rugby and socialise – and return safely to Welkom after the fun.”
