The Free State MEC for Education, Makalo Mohale, visited learners of the Riebeeck High School who were admitted in various hospitals across Matjhabeng.
This visit comes after a tragic accident that claimed the lives of six learners and left others severely injured. The accident occurred on the R70 road near Ventersburg on Tuesday, 7 February, when they were returning from a sports event.
During this visit, Mohale was accompanied by Ketso Makume, MEC for Human Settlements and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), as well as the mayor of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Thanduxolo Khalipha. They offered their support and condolences to the affected families and the community.
Mohale expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their children in this dreadful accident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families during this difficult time. May they find the strength to navigate through this unprecedented loss,” he said.
He added that he hopes the families will find the strength to overcome this traumatic experience, and assured them that they are not alone in their journey towards healing.
