Five arrested after armed robbery of bread delivery truck

Five men have been arrested for the armed robbery of a bread delivery truck in Kutloanong.


Five men have been arrested for the armed robbery of a bread delivery truck in Kutloanong.

On 14 November, the Welkom Anti-Gang unit (AGU) were informed about an armed robbery in progress.

The suspects drove the truck to the K5 section of Kutloanong, where a safe inside the truck was cut open and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

The driver of the delivery truck and his colleague, who was locked in the back, drove to the Kroonstad intersection where they met with members of Welkom AGU.

Information received from informers was operationalised on 15 November, and a house in the K5 section of was tactically approached.

The police arrested a 27-year-old man for armed robbery. The suspect then took the police to a house in the K6 section, Kutloanong, where a 45-year-old man was found in possession of one black Blanks pistol, one magazine, one blank round, one black jersey and brown trousers. He was charged with possession of an imitation firearm to commit crime in terms of Firearm Control Act.

Members proceeded to a house in K1 Section of Kutloanong where a 33-year-old male person was arrested and was found in possession of a silver Blanks pistol, one magazine, two blank rounds, one black jacket, and black jeans. He was charged with possession of an imitation firearm to commit crime.

The police then proceeded to a house in the K9 section of Kutloanong, where a 43-year-old and a 31-year-old were both arrested for armed robbery. The 31-year-old was found in possession of one black hammer, one small hammer, one small axe, one pair of grey track pants, and one black jacket.
