Two men were arrested for the theft of liquor and a sound system which they stole from a liquor outlet in the Themba section of Thabong.

On Friday members of the Welkom Public Order Policing (POP) reacted to a tip-off, and found two men in possession of a sound system and liquor with an estimated value of R100 000.

The media liason offer for the police in the Fee State, Sgt Fikiswa Matoti, says the owner of the bottle store was not aware that his business had been burgled. “He positively identified all of the stolen items as his. The men aged 23 and 31 were arrested.

In an unrelated incident the Odendaalsrus police arrested a 67-year-old father and his 43-year-old son for possession of suspected stolen copper cable.

The police were busy with their normal duties when they received information about a suspicious looking bakkie in K10 section Kutloanong.

The SAPS found a white bakkie loaded with copper cable and housebreaking implements. The father and his son who resides in K8 section were arrested.

Both suspects have been charged with possession of suspected stolen copper cable and housebreaking implements.
