Rito Madingana, Welkom’s own modelling cognoscente, presented a successful workshop for aspiring models of all ages.

The workshop took place in Stateway, Welkom, on Saturday (03/12), where Madingana educated attendees about the ups and downs, the pitfalls and the glory of the modelling world.

“About 34 young women and men attended, and by the Grace of God all went well,” says Madingana.

“Modelling can be an exciting career with many benefits, including travel opportunities, flexible hours and access to the latest fashion trends. However, with the pros we are bound to experience the cons. This is why I wanted to share my 20 years of modelling experience by educating and empowering the youth to reach for their dreams,” she says.

The workshop also addressed issues surrounding gender-based violence.

“Next year the plan is for each student to be a part of the Rehoboth Reconcile Ignites foundation (modelling school).

We will continue to groom each student on self-esteem and awareness, as we host self-defence classes,” she says.

She was a Miss South Africa Top 20 finalist in 2018, and she was in the Miss Free State top five in 2015.

In 2014 Madingana was crowned as Vista Miss Goldfields.
