When the needs of a disabled child were identified on Tuesday, 11 January, members of the Meloding Social Crime Prevention Unit, together with residents, decided to become involved.

Tau Lebusa, a well-wisher, bought food parcels while police members donated money in their personal capacity to relieve the plight of the Komako family.

The food, money and other items were handed over to the family during a special ceremony held in their honour.

“The police and residents brought joy to this family by donating groceries, diapers and cash,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, police spokesperson.

Sgt. Matholoane Tlhomeli directed the programme at the gathering, and Rev. Thembinkosi Dyalivani led the prayers and delivered a message of support. Moduka Moduka, chairperson of the Meloding CPF, welcomed all role players. WO Elsi Tselane explained the purpose of the event, while Lt Col Sannah Magage thanked parties for their involvement.
