The Bible says the just, or righteous, shall live by faith (Heb 10:38).
Obviously, this implies a way of life for those who have been brought into the family of God, by receiving Jesus as their Lord.
These individuals should now conduct their lives by faith.
It is also quite obvious that those who are not in God’s family cannot be expected to live in this very unique way.
But those who do know Christ are required to live – not according to our earthly cultures – but according to the heavenly culture that is revealed to us as we grow in faith.
Therefore, faith is very important to us because without it, we cannot “live by it”.
It is a pity that so many try to use their faith to make more additions to their list of possessions instead of realising that faith comes down to having confidence in the One who has been proven to be reliable and trustworthy, time and time again.
Rom 10:17 tells us that this substance of faith comes by hearing, and abiding by the word of God.
We conclude, therefore, that we cannot live correctly by faith, unless we have God’s word.
This word must come to us as our daily food in order to enable us to live by it.
In this way, we are not being governed by all the negatives that surround us in the earth – but by the eternal word of God.
It now instructs us how to bring his culture and his will into the areas of life where we reside.
Let us make a difference where others cannot and establish his Kingdom (his way of life) in our homes and workplaces.
Remember, this can only take place if we begin to live by faith.
