Someone once said that people change because of vision, suffering or having enough data to make a decision.

There is so much that can be said about having vision and I think that the most well-known phrase in scripture is, “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained (or perish),” Proverbs:29:18.

This verse can be viewed in so many ways. Both personally and corporately. If we do not have any personal vision, then anything goes.

There will not be any discipline to guide us to achieve our goals, and we will be swept along by any new wind of influence. The same principle applies in community.

In reality, everyone is being guided by something. The invisible is shaping the visible. Everyone is guided by some vision.

Even if it is a broken or warped one. As tri-part human beings.

We do not just live physical lives. We have invisible attributes that shape our physical world. Spiritual, mental and emotional programming is creating the very environment we live in.

Therefore, belief drives behaviour. And the fruit of our lives is evidence of what the roots are producing. The unseen influencing the seen.

So, the second part of the verse is crucial when it says, “But happy is he who keeps the law.”

The encouragement and guidance that scripture gives is that Godly vision brings about a happy and abundant life.

So what vision is driving your life? Is it the words in the scriptures that the Author of life offers. Or the challenges of the physical environment that can so easily distract.
