Vista has been the main media sponsor of the Vista Mediclinic Eskom Athletics Club FS Women’s Road Race since its inception two decades ago.
This year the theme is “Gift of Time” and the race will take place on 19 August, starting and ending at Welkom Mediclinic.
Two years of the race have been marred by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the club persevered and with Vista’s involvement as media sponsor a mask competition was held in 2020 and a virtual event in 2021.
“This event was supported by our community and outside the boundaries of the province,” says Hilde du Plessis, chairman of the Eskom Athletics Club and founder member of the Women’s Race.
The main sponsors of the event are Vista (media sponsor) and Mediclinic Welkom.
The other sponsors are Gold FM (support), Capital Sounds, ER24 (medical service provider), PKF Auditors, Lezmin Computers and Wizard (20th year of support).
The Matjhabeng Municipality, the local traffic department and the SAPS also support the event every year.
Vista staff who have been involved over the past 20 years include Alta Snyman (one of the founder members), Marti Will, Amanda-Louise Nel, Michelle Walker, Hesti Jordaan, Madli Grobbelaar, Gerrie van Eeden, Elrina de Beer, Alet van der Walt, Teboho Setena en Augnischa van Eck.
Entries will open on 1 July.
