

AN elderly woman was killed and a 52-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy, seriously injured when an out of control vehicle struck a fence in a built-up area.
The 79-year-old woman died on the scene, and a thirteen year-old boy and a 51-year-old woman were seriouslty injured when a vehicle drove into a fence of a yard in Dichocolateng, Thabong on Friday 15 July at about 17:15.
It is alleged that the 13 year-old boy was playing in the yard, and the two women were passing by the house on their way home from Orange Groove where they had just visited a family member, when a white Colt bakkie lost control and hit the 52 year-old and the 75 year-old woman dragging her through the fence,” says Sgt. Mamello Mokhuoane of the Thabong Cluster.
The driver tried to flee the scene and was caught by angry community members who brutally assaulted him. The driver of the car and the two surviving victims, the 52 year-old woman and 13 year-old boy, were rushed to hospitals in Welkom. The 75 year-old woman was found underneath the car was certified dead at the scene. The deceased 75 year-old deceased was identified as Agnes Molelekeng Seleke and the 52 year-old woman as Palesa Mosia. The 13 year-old boy’s name cannot be made public as he is a minor, says Mokhuoane.
The driver, who is in hospital under police guard, could not produce a drivers licence. A case of culpable homicide was registered for further investigation.
