A 32-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly insulting and stabbing an elderly woman at her home in Thabong.

“On Sunday, 27 April, members attached to the Welkom Anti-Gang unit responded to a complaint in Thubelisha, Thabong,” said

Sgt. Palesa Thabana, Lejweleputswa police spokesperson.

“On arrival, they found a 64-year-old woman with a stab wound to her right arm.

“According to information, the suspect went to the victim’s home, insulted the victim and forced entry to her home, before he allegedly stabbed her.

“The victim managed to fight him off, and he fled the scene.”

The suspect was traced to a nearby tavern and subsequently arrested.

The police seized a knife from the suspect, and he is facing charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property, and crimen injuria.
