The South African Department of Water and Sanitation celebrates National Water Month in March.
In addition to this Tuesday (22/03) is World Water Day and the theme for this year will be “Groundwater – making the invisible, visible”.
“This theme seeks to emphasise that alternative sources of water ought to be sought, without the over-reliance on surface water,” says Nondumiso Mciteka, principal communications officer at the department.
The department will host various activities throughout the month to to enhance public awareness and encourage water conservation, like river clean-ups, to motivate communities to value water more.
The department continues to urge the public to use water sparingly to avoid water shortages that may occur during dry seasons.
