Established in 2003 by Pastor Gerry and Doreen Cloete, the Dunamis Christian School celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Since inception, Dunamis continues to fulfil the vision to provide quality, affordable private education. The school aims to achieve academic excellence whilst instilling godly morals and values in a safe, nurturing, and welcoming Christian environment – adding value to each child.
Dunamis’ name is derived from Acts 4:33: And with great strength and ability and power the apostles delivered their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and great grace, loving kindness, favour and goodwill rested richly upon them.
Doreen says the school inspires learners to believe in God, themselves, and the future according to Jeremiah 29:11: “I know the thoughts and plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “to give you a hope and a future.”
“We all have a divine calling to be change-makers and to live a victorious life in Christ.”
Dunamis provides a holistic quality education based on the seven pillars of excellence, including spiritual growth, academic excellence, leadership skills and career. The school also endeavours to instil character development, sportsmanship, penmanship and public speaking; and offers science clubs, coding, robotics, and participation in Science, Maths and Accounting expos in preparation for competing in a competitive global economy.
“We have dedicated and committed teachers who see education as a calling and honourable profession. They work tirelessly to change the world one child at a time.”
To holistically develop each child, the school offers small classes; reading programmes; educational support; Maths and Science holiday camps; academic intervention programmes; sports, arts and culture; violin lessons; beauty pageants; spelling bees; and more.
“We are proud of our champions, who include the Face of Mathjabeng 2023, Lebohang Sehlabaka; Little Miss Welkom 2022, Hamame Ashenko; and Janelle Brooks and Angela Lepoqo, who have Free State colours in ballet, modern dance and jazz. Also, Theo Borole who qualified for the South African Athletics team in 2023 and is getting ready to attend the Olympics; Phil Nhariswa; and our Gr. 3 provincial reading champion, Simamo Rihobot. We also celebrate with the soccer and netball teams who compete so well in the Southern African Christian Schools Sports Association (SACSSA) nationals.”
