A 54-year-old man suspected of being a drug supplier was arrested in Voorspoed, Welkom, and drugs with a street value of R88 500 were seized.
Vala Umgodi operatives received intelligence and planned a way-lay action in the vicinity of building identified as being used as storage for drugs, in Keerom Street.
“The building was kept under surveillance and at about 12:45 on 23 May activity was noticed,” says Lt Col. Thabo Covane, Free State police spokesperson.
He says the operatives closed in on the identified target, and a thorough search was conducted.
Two small scales used to weigh drugs, crystal meth and 424 full Mandrax tablets were found and seized. The storage owner was immediately placed under arrest, and a case of possession and dealing in drugs was opened at the Welkom Police Station.
