
WESSELSBRON
man has been found guilty on two counts of rape and sentenced to two life
sentences.
Semi Samuel Sekgo of
Monyakeng Wesselsbron was linked by means of a DNA to the two cases.
In the first case a
15-year-old girl was walking in Monyankeng in Wesselsbron in December 2015 when
she was forced to a shack where she was raped. The suspect arrested after the
victim identified him. In the second incident in October 2013, a girl was at
home when her ex-boyfriend broke into her house and gained entrance through the
bedroom window. The victim was overpowered and forced to his residential place where
he raped her. A 33-year-old man was arrested on the 2 November 2013 by
Detective Warrant Officer Jolanda Hulme, but the case was withdrawn by the
victim on the 4 August 2014. The suspect was linked by DNA both rapes.
The two cases were
investigated by W/O Jolanda Hulme, W/O Tshepo Maleme and W/O Fanie van der
Merwe of Welkom Family Violence, Sexual Crimes Unit (FCS).
