Gender based violence and femicide, sexual offences and domestic violence were all highlighted during a joint awareness campaign in Bronville.

The initiative was held on 28/10 by the members of Social Crime Prevention led by Warrant Officer Dennis Wangra, in conjunction with the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) and the Community Service Centre in Bronville.

WO Wangra addressed the residents and spoke about these critical issues which are affecting the Bronville community.

Wangra also encouraged residents to report suspects who are destroying Matjhabeng infrastructure. Reporters may remain anonymous and must call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111.

Members of the DCS encouraged young people to abstain from crime and substance abuse and emphasized that parolees will continue to be monitored with the assistance of Bronville SAPS members.

Residents were also encouraged to be part of the CPF and Sector Forums so that they be made aware of crime trends in Bronville.

“Crime cannot be eradicated by SAPS alone but residents must also be the eyes and ears of the SAPS to squeeze the space to zero for criminals in Bronville,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa SAPS.
