The body of a female farmworker from the Wesselsbron district was found in a decomposed state, with her hands tied.
Matsie Lettia Lekata (45) from Monyakeng, Wesselsbron, was reported missing on 21 May.
She was working as a farmworker at the Weenen Farm in the Wesselsbron district.
“It is alleged that she was fetched by an unknown person from her room on the farm.
“A missing person file was registered, and the search was conducted by members of the police’s Detective Services, farmers and farm workers who looked all over, but could not find her,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the SAPS in Lejweleputswa.
On 5 July at about 13:00, a group of boys were busy cutting wood in the bush on the farm when they discovered the decomposed body of a woman.
They informed their parents, who called the farmer.
“The police were then informed.
“The decomposed body was found with a clocking tag, and a key to the room where she stayed on the farm, a red shirt and a black T-shirt.
“There was no clothing from the waist down and her hands were tied,” says Thakeng.
A case of murder has been registered for further investigation.
