There have been numerous complaints from different suburbs in Matjhabeng about leaking pipes and holes dug by the municipality but left open, which is a cause for concern considering how deep some of these holes are.

The first leak is in Koppie Alleen Road, near Long Road, where there is a big hole with water flowing from it and two heaps of soil on the side, proof that there was dug at the spot. The site has been left as is and the leaks are still not fixed.

The water flowing into the road causes serious damage to its tar surface. The extention 9 suburb has suffered water closure for a week now.

“So I wonder who needs the water more, us people or the tar road. A sinkhole is also starting to form in the road at this location. A piece of blue pipe has been put in the road to stop the cars,” said a concerned resident.

It has been reported that there are about four major water leaks in Kok Street, Langeberg, Mt Ayliff and Naude in St Helena, and serious road damage in the area due to the continual leaks.

There is also one of a few at Spectrum Paint at the bottom of Stateway, with a major water leak in Flamingo Park’s Cormorant Street and Drongo Road.
