Two suspects in possession of dagga valued at R60 000, were arrested in a roadblock that was held on the N5 road between Senekal and Winburg.

During the roadblock on Thursday (21/07), that was led by Capt. Abram George from Bronville SAPS and Capt.Daniel Kareli from Meloding SAPS, an Isuzu bakkie with North West registration numbers with two men inside was stopped.

The SAPS members started to search the bakkie and at the back of the bakkie wrapped tightened bags full of dagga were found and seized.

The dagga weighed 28 kg with the value of R60 000. The police also found and confiscated R8 640 cash.

“Apparently the suspects were travelling from Mpumalanga on their way to Bloemfontein,” says Stephen Thakeng media liaison for the Lejweleputswa SAPS.

The two suspects, Thato Seakamela (33) and Letlhogonolo Tlhokoe (30), were charged for possession of dagga. They have each been granted bail of R5 000, and will again appear in the Winburg Magistrates Court on 16 September.

The case is being investigated by Det. Sgt Lizelle van der Westhuizen of the Winburg Detective Services.
