The cumulative Covid-19 cases in the Free State province stands at 80 680 to date.

Most cases are allocated to Mangaung Metro at 33 232, followed by Lejweleputswa district at 15 878.

“Looking at statistics in the past three months of 2021, one can deduce that the month of January indicated a spike and also reached its peak and started declining mid-month and shows a steady decline up to the month of march,” says Zweli Qamkana, communication officer, Lejweleputswa District Health Services.

He says the kissue of concern is the upcoming Easter weekend and social activities around it. “Furthermore, the trends of infection show that it reaches its peak during the winter season. We are not out of the pandemic yet, and we should continue to remain vigilant and practice the non-pharmaceutical interventions, as the virus is still in circulation,” says Qamkana.
