An intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of a Bronville couple found to be in the possession of dagga and counterfeit cigarettes.

The husband was also charged with illegal immigration.

On 13 January, at approximately 10:30, a house in Winnie Park, Bronville, was searched.

The police discovered and seized 30 pokes of dagga wrapped in newspaper, 18 small bags of dagga, black plastic bags containing loose dagga, five boxes of counterfeit cigarettes and R439 in cash.

“The husband had no proper documentation to be in the country, and he was arrested for illegal immigration,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, police spokesperson.

“The couple will be facing charges of dealing in dagga, the possession of counterfeit cigarettes and illegal immigration.”
