The 30-day countdown to the Mediclinic Welkom VistaEskom Athletics Club Road Race has begun.
In its 22nd year, it is still a highlight on the road running calender in South Africa; and with the theme “Sparkling Star Celebration”, it promises to be another sterling event.
“The challenge goes on – it’s Women’s month, and the anticipation and excitement has started,” says Hilde du Plessis, chairman of the athletics club.
“Get ready to experience the adrenaline rush as you pass through the arch on 30 August, signalling the beginning and triumphant end of your journey in this race.”
Entry forms are now available.
Athletes can participate by either walking, or jogging as an individual – or they can team up in a group with friends or join a team of business employers, employees or business associates.
“This is a race for the fit or the not so fit, but it is a start and challenge to get active and fit,” says Du Plessis.
To participate, those interested need to pre-enter either on entryninja.com or visit and enter per hand at Lesedi ICT, 385 Stateway, between 09:00 and 16:00 daily.
Du Plessis says athletes can also enter on the day of the event at the Virgin Active entry point. This venue will be open from Monday, 26 August, up to the day of the race.
Entry forms can be requested per mail if needed, or obtained from the Vistaoffice, Virgin Active, Mediclinic and Lesedi ICT.
They wil also be available from the other sponsors of the event.
