“Men must get back to their position as a breadwinner, protector, and someone who loves his wife and children,” said Mojalefa Buti, member of the mayoral committee for Economic Development in Matjhabeng, during the men’s conference held at the Ferdi Meyer Hall on 28 October.

The Greater Allenridge Men’s Forum held a conference highlighting that men must fight crime in their neighbourhoods. Buti said Matjhabeng faced challenges of poverty, crime, corruption, and invasion of foreigners, and it can only be tackled if men get involved.

“Men were created by God to be the head of the family and a leader,” he said.

The executive mayor of Matjhabeng, Thanduxolo Khalipha, stated council needed everyone in the region’s input, and ideas must be shared.

He said abandoned municipal buildings would be renovated and rented out to government workers, such as nurses and police officers, to be close to their workplace.
