The Ring Contact Fighting Arts (RCFA) is a proudly South African style which was established in the mid 80’s by Master Joe Viljoen, founder and international president, by combining five different disciplines – karate for kicks, boxing for punching, judo for grappling, wrestling for throws, and ballet for flexibility and movements.
The RCFA hosted its annual advanced instructor course for all its instructors from around the country during the weekend of Friday, 2 August, to Sunday.
The course was held at the ChaZen wildlife centre in Parys and was presented by Viljoen.
Over the years, Master Joe has produced 15 world champions.
“And more are still to come as South Africa will witness the first-ever World Championships across all martial arts styles hosted in our country next year. The RCFA will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary,” says Welkom’s own RCFA sensei, Joe Gladstone Ralejoe.
Ralejoe, of the RCFA Bhubezi Fight Club, also attended the course to further hone his skills and sharpen his knowledge.
“We are very blessed and privileged to be learning from Master Joe, with all he has achieved. It is a real honour to be a student of his teachings and also part of the growing RCFA family,” says Ralejoe.
