The Morning Star Children’s Centre in Welkom urgently needs assistance providing its children with winter clothing.
Elizabeth van der Westhuizen of Morning Star says the centre’s cupboards are almost depleted.
“This is testimony to our inability to keep pace with supply and demand.”
The centre was born out of a Christian compassion for the plight South Africa finds itself in.
“We are committed to restoring hope to the women and children of our region, and making a meaningful difference to as many families as possible. Warm clothing is essential, as many of our children have a compromised immune system, live in accommodation that often lacks any form of heating, so dressing warmly is a matter of survival,” she says.
The centre will accept any type of winter clothing.
“Our immediate needs are girls and boys aged 5 years and upwards, with long trousers, jerseys and jackets,” she says.
Donations can be dropped off at the Morning Star Centre at the Kopano Complex, Long Road, or arrangements to collect can be made.
