The dictionary definition of hope is “to cherish a desire with anticipation”.

When interviewed, an observer present during a bombing in Israel remarked that when the all too familiar sirens rang out over the city, warning Israeli’s of an imminent attack from the skies, he could not help but notice that there was an almost unnatural calm among the civilians.

It seemed that the threat of being bombed was so much a part of everyday life that most went about their business and daily routine without alarm.

But perhaps their calm also came from the protection of the golden dome, which faithfully nullifies the attacks of their enemies.

They have grown accustomed to the sirens and incoming threats. However, they have also come to know the trustworthy ability and reliability of their military defense weapon.

John 10:10 teaches us that we should also know that we have an enemy who seeks to steal, kill and destroy, but we should know and have greater confidence in the one in whom we put our trust.

God is great in faithful love, says Psalm 145:8, and is an ever-present help in time of trouble, Psalm 46:1 adds.

When we rest in Him, we too can continue with the purpose He has for us irrespective of the circumstances surrounding us. Jesus is our hope and we can cherish the knowledge of his imminent rescue with anticipation.

As Psalm 33: 20-21 states: “We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

May our Lord encourage you and fill you with hope today as you choose to trust in Him. – Lana Archontakis is of theKingdom Ministries
