The Welkom Police in Welkom have launched a manhunt for
three unknown African males involved in the attempted robbery of, and the murder
of a 47-year-old Chinese woman in Tempest
Road, Dagbreek, on Tuesday, 12 July.
The victim arrived home from her business in Welkom about
19:00. It is alleged that she was confronted
by three unknown men who were waiting for her at the gate. “One of the suspects
allegedly blocked the gate and the other two followed her inside the courtyard where they cornered
her while she was still inside her vehicle.,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng,
Lejweleputswa media Liaison officer.
Thakeng says they smashed the car window and demanded that
she hand over the cash. She allegedly reversed the vehicle away from the
suspects and suspects fired shots at her. The woman was fatally wounded, and the
suspects fled on foot.
