Tshepiso Albert Letsoara, a well-renowned seasoned chef and business owner, has a great passion for cooking and believes that cooking is more than feeding someone, as well as making nostalgic and delectable dishes.
Tshepiso, popularly known as Chef Albert, was born and bred in Welkom. He completed his primary schooling at the Aurora Primary School and went on to matriculate at the Welkom High School.
Afterwards, he enrolled at Boston City Campus to study Media Consulting but quickly realised his passion for cooking, so he dropped out to pursue this instead. He began his culinary studies at the HTA School of Culinary Art, where he completed a Food Preparation and Culinary Arts course.
Tshepiso attained three diplomas at the Food and Beverage Institution (FBI) in Bloemfontein, Free State, namely Food and Beverage Services, Food Preparation and Cooking (patisserie), and Food Preparation and Culinary Arts.
He was granted an opportunity to work overseas for the first time at the Mohonk Mountain House Resort in New Paltz, New York. Having completed his work abroad, Tshepiso decided to return to South Africa to complete his studies at FBI, and shortly afterwards was granted an opportunity to do his in-service training at The Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Napels in Florida.
After a very favourable circumstances, Chef Albert was granted an internship at the Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham, Massachusetts, where he gained a great deal of experience.
Through his hard work and determination, he was presented with awards such as best intern of the year and best international intern of the month.
He later moved to New Zealand which was not very pleasant for him as he worked at a small café. Shortly thereafter, he moved to work at Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Auckland, still in New Zealand, where he gained copious amounts of experience. Various opportunities were presented to the chef, including being a room attendant which was an entirely new experience he enjoyed nonetheless.
Tshepiso has now returned to South Africa to continue looking after his business, which is doing quite well. During the Covid-19 lockdown period, he took on the role of private chef to a family of eight which was a good experience for him.
Tshepiso is now ready to continue growing his business and brand.
