The first annual Gold FM Golden Globes: A Story of Community and Giving took place on Friday evening at the Goldfields Casino in Welkom.
Guests from near and afar flooded to attend the glitzy black tie event and to receive their much-deserved accolades for hard and deserved service to the community.
“As the winter holiday season approached, we at Gold FM couldn’t help but think about the many school children who rely on schools for their daily meals, only to go without during the holidays. Driven by a desire to make a difference, we at Gold FM decided to create something special – a way to thank their community for its unwavering support,” says Ilza Labuschagne, station manager.
And so, the Gold FM Golden Globes was born.
This initiative aimed not only to recognise and reward outstanding community members, but also to raise funds for a worthy cause.
The funds collected from the Golden Globes evening will be used to purchase ingredients for soup, which will then be prepared and delivered to families in need during the winter holidays.
“Gold FM has raised enough funds to feed 4 000, but this means only two meals per week, so we are aiming to feed 10 000 in total,” says Labuschagne.

The second annual Gold FM Golden Globes will be held on 24 and 25 April 2026, says Labuschagne.
